Why is Bone Broth becoming so popular?

Here is a picture of me drinking a glass of bone broth, taken a few years ago when I was living in the United States. I am dressed in my workout clothes getting ready to go to the gym, sipping a glass of broth before exercising.

I always like to enjoy myself, no matter the activity, and pouring the broth into a wine glass makes it seem fancy! A glass of bone broth sipped from a wine glass in the garden seemed to bring a sense of celebration to what may seem like a mundane activity, heading off the gym. After my glass of broth, I had the energy it takes to continue the hectic morning of a mother.

I didn't realize that bone broth or stock was always in my life until health and food experts started to mention its health benefits. During my childhood, homemade soup was served every day. My mother and grandmother were always busy in the kitchen, and there was always a pot of broth on the stove, to be used for soups and other dishes. Growing up in 1980's Czechoslovakia, we ate a great deal of meat, and meat stock or broth was common in almost every kitchen. Chicken soup was one of our favorites.

I love to make my own bone broth and sip it warm in the morning, especially during the winter season, it warms me inside. Bone broth nourishes me, gives me energy and it it said to heal the digestive tract.

According to many food experts, bone broth also boosts the immune system, can help heal arthritis, reduce cellulite, dampen joint pain and protect the joints. Many health experts see about this new superfood ( which is actually an ancient food) as a natural stimulant which can replace coffee to give people the energy boost they need in the mornings and throughout the day.

On daily consumption of bone broth, you may notice an improvement in your complexion, nails, and hair, as well as having healthier bones, teeth, and gut. It has been noted that people see to age more slowly and graciously as well.

Bone broth contains bio-available collagen that helps to hold your body together. If we have collagen in our diet, we can enjoy beautiful hair, skin, nails, strong muscles and a healthy gut. Collagen in broth is turned into gelatin, which is the thick, jiggly surface in the broth after cooled in the fridge. Gelatin can protect our cells, improves our sleep, it helps to heal arthritis, joint pain, our gut and more. When you don't have enough collagen in your body you may experience fast aging, wrinkly skin, dry hair, and abdominal issues. After the age of 40, the natural production of collagen in our bodies slowly declines.

Bone broth also contains healthy fats, which are great for our brain health. Bone broth contains amino acids which are very important for our organs, our hormones, and much more yet to be discovered by medical science. Bone broth contains a bevy of vitamins, such as vitamins A,D,E, and K, all derived from the health fats found within. In addition, bone broth contains ample amounts of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and so much more. The vitamin and mineral content depends on what is cooked in the broth; it can be simmered with vegetables, spices , herbs, seaweed, there are a multitude of options.

My two favorite things about broth are that it is easy digestible, and that you can experiment in so many ways with its preparation. You can add bones or meat scraps, or you can make a vegetable broth from vegetable peelings and veggie scraps that are fit for the compost. You can use your broth for soups and in your recipes, or just sip it for fun.

Most store-bought broths are made from artificially produced meat flavors ( like bouillon cubes) and contain monosodium glutamate (MSG) which is a neurotoxin very dangerous to our health.

Making broth home is easy, especially if you have a Crock-Pot or slow cooker. You can find many recipes on how to prepare bone broth on the Internet, or in cook books anywhere these days.

Let's get more collagen into our bodies and be and feel beautiful and healthy!!!
