Woman's fat and bakery products

During last summer holidays I visited several beaches in France, where I currently live, and beaches in Italy where I go for my vacation. As a therapist and health enthusiast I always look at people and their bodies. Year by year it is more depressing to look at. More and more I see people who don't take care of themselves and their environment, it means overweight unhealthy bodies and garbage everywhere on the beach.
I decided to count women who really look healthy with a nice body who probably exercise, eat good food and love themselves. I saw only 3. Then I looked around me and counted women who were overweight, looked tired and sluggish. I counted 28.
I did it in France and Italy - no matter of the country, even young women nowadays have belly fat, fat on thighs and buttocks, double chin and fat on their arms. This is the sad reality. There are so many overweight people that we think it is normal and I think in the future when we see a beautiful, good looking slim woman, we will be like : "What's wrong with her?"
France is famous for her boulangeries, patisseries, they smell so good especially in the morning when everything is fresh. When I moved there from the USA I ate lot of bread, croissants, pastry.....so delicious. But after a few weeks I gained weight and I felt really sluggish in the morning. I abandoned my healthy eating breakfast habits that I used to have in New York. How come that many years ago a woman who ate bakery products was slim and ok and now even a teenage girl has so much body fat? Years ago people walked more and they weren't addict to technology that would impact negatively their lives. And most importantly years ago people ate real food.
Bread of the past versus modern bread:
Imagine that you visit your great-great-great-grandmother during her time in your dream and she invites you to her home. She says: "Let me bake you some bread, I will need flour, water, yeast ,salt...."
Suddenly somebody opens the door - a man in a suit, a boss from one of these huge food corporations that rule the world, says: " This is 2019 lady, now you need more than 5 ingredients, you need to add enzymes, L-cysteine, azodicarbonamide, calcium propionate and at least 4 more additives and preservatives.
Your great-great-great grandmother would say: " What? I can't even pronounce these strange names! And why would my bread need them?" The man responds: " It will rise faster, we can make more loaves of bread, make it bigger, cheaper, softer and longer-lasting - that way we can make much more money - and who cares about the people, anyway?"
Your great-great-great- grandmother gets really mad and she yells at him: " Get out of my house, you are a criminal who should be punished for what you have done to humanity"! The man leaves the house laughing because he knows he is untouchable and protected by politicians who are as corrupted as he is.
Only the young generation can change that and say ENOUGH!
Bread info
Depends on the type of bread of course, but bread is usually low in essential nutrients, protein, minerals and fiber. Whole-wheat bread or sprouted bread has more fiber and more nutrients. Bread is high in carbs that the body breaks down into glucose, leading to an increase in blood sugar levels and hunger.
Modern wheat is different from the wheat that our ancestors used centuries ago. Now it is more inflammatory, and has a lower nutrient content. It was changed in 1960s.
Modern flour is more heavily refined than traditional flour was. Today's flour usually contains amylase enzyme, L-ascorbic acid as a preservative, azodicarbonamide, benzoyl peroxide and chlorine dioxide gas.
Commercially-prepared breads include additives that allow them to rise faster and they are cheaper. Additives are L-cysteine, potassium bromate, azodicarbonamide or high fructose corn syrup. Modern ingredients in bread also include preservatives such as calcium propionate, propionic acid and sodium propionate, we can't forget to mention enzymes like transglutaminase that can be found in many croissants and also emulsifiers and stabilizers to keep the bread longer on the supermarket shelves. You are invited to search more information about these modern ingredients in today's bakery world so you can learn more about what you and your children are putting in your bodies. Be aware that enzymes are not identified on labels as the major allergen group.
During my stay in Italy this summer of 2019 I visited my friend's house. He introduced me to his grandma who is in her eighties. I was surprised to see how good she looked and the strength she had. She picked up my 8 year old son and put him over her shoulder like a feather. She told me she walks a lot every day and she is very active and she plays cards every night with her family. Every day she cooks for the family and bakes her own bread. All the ingredients for her cooking are from her garden or her neighbors in the village. She lives with rest of her family, my friend's parents, uncles, aunts , cousin - everybody lives close by and they visit each other and enjoy a meal together often. I met the whole family, everybody is super healthy, nice and slim, very good looking and their grandchildren are very intelligent and well behaved. It was a pleasure to spend a few days with them. The home made bread was absolutely delicious and the fruit and vegetables from their garden were big and tasted great. Everything organic, local and beautiful. The grandma told me she is in her kitchen every morning at 5 o'clock to prepare the dough for her bread to rise.
Years ago, a girl's body began changing during the puberty years, gently entering womanhood, enjoying a peak of beauty and physical ability during her twenties. Then after the age of 30 physical perfection was less easily attained, and had to maintain her form, and think more seriously about diet as her body further matured. Nowadays I notice girls seem to be in form until around the age of 14, then, once more time is spent with friends and out of the home, obesity begins, they take on an unhealthy look, their skin suffers, and into their twenties some of them are already heavily overweight and sick. Notice how many teenagers are eating heavily processed toxic foods, chips and drinking sodas during their lunch breaks. Eating bakery products every day with the modern ingredients mentioned in this article is contributing to our destruction as well.
Are we, as parents, going to change that for our children and their children or are we too busy looking at our phones, reacting to social media?
